We all have seen the incredible colored video footage and photo’s from WWII. I wasn’t aware that someone was already taking color photographs in the early 1900’s, until I came across a book called: Prokudin Gorsky True Colours (a Dutch book)

Sergey Prokudin-Gorsky was a photographer with a background in chemistry. Together with Adolf Miethe they worked on colour dyes and three-colour photography. Adolf asked a certain Wilhelm Bermpohl to build him a camera. The Bermpohl Naturfarbenkamera was born. This camera basically splits the light and projecting the image onto three film plates. Color filters in front of each film plate renders the black-and-white image suitable for a three-color printing process: red, green & blue.

I am one of those guys that sticks to black socks no matter the occasion, and switches to white socks when it comes to sports. Thank you Bobby Pola for showing me the light!!!! Happy Socks really do put a smile on your face, but will make my morning take a bit longer. Which shoes and tee fits with the Optic- OP09-001. Aha, I think the Vruchtvlees Noir Untitled #2 tee goes good with it!!! Any suggestions for the shoes?

You’ve probably seen the stopmotion/motionpainting animation that Blu did a while ago: Muto. It’s a process of painting, erasing, painting, erasing and some more painting. It kinda reminds me of Jan Švankmajer (Wiki, Youtube 1, Youtube 2). I wonder if Blu made a plan before actually starting his animation, or if he just went ahead and did whatever came up in his head.

This past weekend I was invited to the Mini Bar – Amsterdam, for a fundraising event for PiggyBankFilm. This initiative was set up by Katie Pow and Eline Bakker when they were looking for funding for the production of their movie, Paper Parachutes. They saw the need to help out filmmakers create their films, and came up with the plan to have individuals be part of the movie making process.

So it seems that Microsoft came up with something clever called: Courier. A tablet that will revolutionize the way we work. Or so they promise. I am an Apple fan and it pains me say that the images and video look very cool promising. But still it is Microsoft. And it will run on a Microsoft OS. Imagine running around, doing your work, only to find out that nothing is saved or that it crashes while working.

Sometimes I have the privilege to sit behind a friend’s PC to help out on something. It’s like I’m thrown back into time, with an unstable and butt ugly work environment. Slow and unreliable. Therefore I just can’t believe the leap that Microsoft is making with the Courier.
